She hasn’t talked to her mother for months, who does not approve of her lifestyle, and is constantly urged by her dad to try and make contact. She is in real estate finance and lives a considerably flashy life, as do all the lesbians. She loves her girlfriend Natalie but she also likes to have fun, and is often out partying 4-5 nights a week. They are not out partying and being irresponsible they want to build a life together, damn all the naysayers, and they want it now. They are the probably the most serious of all the ladies.
We see them trying on wedding dresses, speaking to wedding planners, and having a genuinely fun time doing it. Two of the women, Jill and Nikki, are trying to organize their wedding, which of course is really a commitment ceremony due to the ban on same-sex marriage. Hell, if you go by this show, every single woman in Los Angeles looks like a model or fashionista. Most of them are actually bound to shatter your expectation of what a lesbian might look like. They have nice houses and apartments, drive BMWs, and dress like they fell out of a magazine.
But make no mistake, these women have money. They all have different types of situations when it comes to careers and love lives. This brings us to the show at hand, which is a look into the lives of 6+ lesbians in and around Los Angeles. I suppose that based on the popularity of their show The L Word, which was essentially a female version of Queer As Folk (a British show first, then a US show of the same name) they thought it only necessary to let the lesbian fun continue after that show ended. it is one of the most over rated shows on TV, Just a bunch of shallow uninteresting characters in stupid,inconceivable and unbelievable story lines.I knew sex between two women was different, but this is ridiculous The simple truth is if you take away the the lesbian sex shock value and the show is nothing. I mean god bless on-demand, I can fast forward through the drudgery of whining jenny and the continuous Shane worshiping. One of the worst scenes ever was the "gabfest" with Gloria Steinem, it was so forced and boring they were trying capture the girl talk of "sex and the city" and it just didn't happen, it did not even come close. The only chemistry that exists on the show and really the only thing worth watching is Alice and Dana's over the top and fun filled relationship, besides that I was bored to tears and not interested in any of the characters. The story lines were boring there were no plot twists that I could not see coming from a mile away. The second season arrived and unfortunately, the show got worse with every episode. I have watched this show since the first episode and thought okay the writing is a little sophomoric and the story lines are forced and clichéd but lets see how it evolves let it hit its stride.
